Welcome
Welcome to Build the Foundation®! We are excited and pleased that you have chosen to work with us. At Rebuild Coaching, we partner with our clients to rebuild their present and create a future that makes them excited to get out of bed every day. Build the Foundation® was conceptualized by Rebuild Coaching Founder Jon Jassy as a practical, action-oriented ‘coaching boot camp’ to concentrate on the first part of that equation: rebuilding your present by making a series of small, immediate and incremental improvements in your everyday life. At Rebuild Coaching, we recognize that every individual and every brain injury or concussion is unique and presents its own set of challenges. Build the Foundation® is customized to your particular needs— wherever you are in your recovery. Our goal is to help you ‘level up’ across a wide range of areas of your life.
Build the Foundation® will consist of two half-hour sessions per week (every 3-4 days). We’ll cover topics that run the gamut of making your everyday life better: memory and organizational systems, activities of daily living, task initiation and follow-through, planning, decision-making, managing emotions, relaxation and keeping yourself grounded, social connection, life balance, creativity, and creating meaning in your life. Depending on your needs, the program should last between 31-48 sessions, which should work out to to 16 1/2 - 24 weeks long.
Please take a moment to review the coaching agreement one more time. Should you have any questions, please email info@rebuildcoaching.com.
Here’s what to do next:
1. Book your sessions. You may now book your first month’s sessions. You have 35 days (from today) to use up all of the sessions in your monthly coaching package before they expire. Build the Foundation® is intensive, and it is designed for you to meet with your coach every three or four days. So, you should book your sessions either on Mondays and Thursdays or on Tuesdays and Fridays. We suggest you pick regular times to meet each week, and then go ahead and book them all now.
2. Fill out the Build the Foundation® Introductory Questionnaire and ask somebody close to you (a spouse, family member or close friend who sees you a lot) to fill out the Build the Foundation® Close Other Introductory Questionnaire. There are several reasons why this information will be helpful to your coach: a) multiple perspectives will help your coach get a potentially more complete picture of what is going on with you; b) the information will give your coach get a better sense of which areas of your life are relative strengths and which areas of your life you have the most struggles; c) the information will help your coach better allocate the time you spend together and focus the work you do in each area of your life.
3. Get a planner with to-do lists for yourself. Planners have come a long way in the last 20 years. The new ones can be really helpful for organization and planning. Among the many good options out there, we suggest one of the Panda planners (the Classic, Pro, or Weekly). Amongst the alternatives, we prefer the Gazelle Planner and the Passion Planner. (If you absolutely, positively can’t part with your electronic/phone calendar and they are working for you, then hold off on purchasing one of the above planners until you talk to your coach abut it during your first session.)
4. Fill out the questionnaire for your first module, which your coach will send to you at least three days before your first Build the Foundation® session.
Summary
So, once again, here are the next steps:
1) today: pick available days and times for us to meet each week and schedule your sessions
2) tomorrow: fill out the Build the Foundation® Introductory Questionnaire and ask your spouse, close friend or family member fill out the Build the Foundation® Close Other Introductory Questionnaire
3) in the next few days, order a new planner on Pandaplanner.com or Amazon.com (or plan to talk to your coach during your first session about holding onto your electronic calendar & planner)
4) when you receive it rom your coach, fill out the questionnaire for your first module before your first session.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to email us at jon@rebuildcoaching.com or at info@rebuildcoaching.com.
